Newly Elected GJA Executives Call for Collaboration Between Media and Ghana National Fire Service.
On Thursday, July 1, 2025, the newly elected Eastern Regional Executives of the Ghana Journalists Association paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Regional Fire Officer (RFO) in a call to strengthen collaboration between the media and the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

The GJA delegations, led by the Regional Chairman of the association, Mr. Ampem Darko-Koranteng, proposed to the Ghana National Fire Service through the Regional Fire Officer initiatives for cooperation, which includes the formation of a committee to address journalists’ safety and improve information flow.

The RFO, upon receiving the GJA delegations, welcomed and admonished the media to practice balanced media coverage, citing challenges faced by the Service.
The regional chairman of the GJA, Mr. Darko-Koranteng, pledged the association’s commitment to responsible journalism and also announced plans for capacity-building to address misreporting in the region.
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their dedication to fostering mutual respect and enhancing communication for public safety.
